Campout Fun on Catalina Island

The Catalina Island "Dark of the Moon" Weekend was great fun for the three families who participated - 3 little girls, 2 big brothers, their happy parents and one doting aunt.
Everyone enjoyed the boat rides over and back - calm seas, whale-spotting and a gorgeous ride up the Catalina coast.  Activities in Two Harbors included a birthday celebration with ube cake for the big brothers [who turned 17 and 16 that week], volleyball, card games, endless relaxed conversations sitting on benches at Isthmus Harbor admiring the cleanest water we've ever seen, walking in a pack all over the isthmus [where Two Harbors is located - Isthmus Harbor and "Cat" Harbor are only 1/4 mile apart] - and yes, stargazing on a very clear night.

The cabins were comfortable and warm [next time, we'll make use of the large communal kitchen], the restaurant food was quite good, the general store had everything we'll need for supplies next time - and the TH residents were very friendly and kind to our children.

All in all, an absolutely perfect and relaxing weekend - one that will be repeated next year along with, we hope, FCC Moon Festival mountain camping.
