Fun With Friends at the 2010 FCC-SoCal Summer Picnic
Summer has arrived which means time for the annual joint FCC/ OCA picnic! The Organization of Chinese Americans, like FCC, is a national organization with chapters across the country. FCC-SoCal is proud to be able to partner with the local chapter of OCA on a variety of event thoughout the year. The goal in partnering is to develop social, political and economic support for our adoptive Chinese children and other Asia-Pacific Americans. The summer picnic is a great opportunity to socialize and make new friends.
This year's picnic on June 5th rejoined old and new friends alike at an unique park in the city of San Gabriel, in western San Gabriel Valley. We picnicked directly adjacent to Dinosaur Park, an artistic treasure nestled in the quiet corner of Victor Lugo Park. The event was well attended by over fifteen families, and offered opportunities for enjoying delicious food (Hawaiian theme!) and warm conversation. Many members met the new FCC board members for the first time.
Meanwhile, the children flitted to and from such varied activities as: manicures given by the "older sisters," ping-pong toss, pinata, balloon toss, the infamous donut-eating contest, and free reign over the unique reptilian climbing structures. It was a definite hit! And this location is another opportunity to showcase the geographical diversity in our Greater LA region.
A special thank you to Susan Robinson for planning this event. Additional contributors included Amy Cheung von Haam and Priscilla Hefley. And a thank you to all of the older kids for leading the activities.

Hope to see you there again next year!
