This will be a potluck dinner with guest speaker Amanda de Lange. Amanda operates Starfish Foster Home in China whose mission is to save the lives of Chinese orphans with special health needs. She has an extensive track record of success with children in China. A teacher by trade, she started Starfish Children's Services and the Starfish Foster Home three years ago to help the orphanages of Shaanxi province.
A note from Judy about the guest speaker:
About six months after reading this article in the Rainbow Kids online magazine, I unexpectedly found myself in Xi'an. Curious - a South African woman operates a foster home in China? - I phoned Amanda and asked if I could visit. The scene that greeted me -babies everywhere, nannies tending them and Amanda calmly presiding over the whole brood - changed my perception of what one person could accomplish.
